LIGHT is TIME

Earlier this month, Japanese watchmakers CITIZEN displayed their LIGHT is TIME installation at La Triennale di Milano, as part of this year's Salone Milano, winning two Milan Design Awards for sounds and entertainment.

LIGHT is TIME reminisces on the moment instantly after the Big Bang and the subsequent formation of the universe.

The main element of the piece is the gold chandelier-like design, each piece of which represents the 80,000 'main plates' that make up the basic parts of watch design.

With a dark interior and mirrored surfaces creating a seemingly endless void, the suspension of the reflective gold components appear frozen in time, allowing visitors to walk through and view the moment from the inside.

CITIZEN worked with Tsuyoshi Tane of Parisian architectural practice DGT. They also published a virtual tour of their installation on their website
